Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers see rugby more clearly: a well-framed explanation, a close reading of a tactic, or a piece that makes an unfamiliar part of the game easier to follow.
What makes a strong pitch
Tell us the central question your piece will answer, who it is for and what the reader will understand afterwards. A strong proposal has a defined scope, explains rugby terms in context and offers a distinct angle rather than a general survey of the sport.
Topics and approach
We are interested in evergreen subjects across laws, positions, tactics, formats and match reading. Pitches should be original, clearly sourced where factual claims require support, and careful about the difference between a rule, a common practice and an interpretation. Avoid unsupported claims, match predictions and professional medical, legal or investment advice.
How to propose a piece
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline, the intended reader and any relevant writing samples. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication.
A match is more than a sequence of collisions
Rugby becomes easier to follow when you notice where players stand, what a decision changes and how one phase sets up another.
